Proust Playing Air-Guitar

Perhaps a year ago, I stumbled across the Public Domain Review. Since then, it’s been one of my favorite websites, even if I only browse it occasionally to glance at the images. They recently posted a great little article about Scott Moncrieff’s translation of Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu into English, and how Moncrieff was able to provide such a well-regarded translation while rendering the title so poorly. It’s a worthy read for its commentary on the components of a proper translation, and it’s also just a great story. But if you simply can’t bring yourself to do any more reading, at least just look at the photos. A sneak peak:
